Creative Movement (Ages 3-4)

Activities introduce the basic elements of dance including rhythm and time, movement qualities, space and use of body.  Students will explore their own movement within an age appropriate creative structure, while gaining confidence and body awareness.
Dress Code:
            Girls-leotard, footless tights or leggings
            Boys-solid color T-shirt, shorts or sweatpants
            Footwear-bare feet
MONDAY 3:15-4:00 pm   OR

Pre-Ballet (Ages 4-6) PRE-REQUISITE:  Must have completed Creative Movement class or with permission of instructor.

Students will be introduced to classical ballet vocabulary and movement in an age-appropriate manner.
Dress Code:
Girls-solid color leotard and tights
Boys-solid color fitted t-shirt, male tights or leggings
Footwear- ballet shoes only
MONDAY  4:00-4:45 pm   OR

Pre Tap/Jazz  (Ages 5-6)

Class will introduce the basic concepts of tap and jazz dancing.  Focus will include understanding rhythm, tempo and body awareness.  The class will be fun and high-energy with age appropriate popular music.
Dress Code:
Girls-leotard and tights
Boys-leotard or solid color t-shirt with dance pants
Footwear-tap shoes AND jazz or ballet shoes
MONDAY  5:00-5:45 pm  OR
SATURDAY  12:00-12:45 pm

Tap I  (Ages 6-9)
PRE-REQUISITE:  6 yr. olds must have taken Pre-Tap/Jazz or with permission of instructor.

Class will introduce the basic elements of tap dance.  Focus will include rhythm, technique and vocabulary.  Students will increase strength and body awareness.
Dress Code:
Girls-leotard and tights
Boys-leotard or solid color t-shirt, leggings or dance pants
Footwear-tap shoes only
THURSDAY  4:15-5:00 pm   

Tap II  (Ages 10-14)

Class continues the exploration of tap dance.  Students will focus on beat, timing and rhythm.  This class will help promote concentration and coordination.
Dress Code:
Girls-leotard and tights
Boys-leotard or solid color t-shirt and leggings or dance pants
Footwear-tap shoes only
THURSDAY  6:15-7:00 pm

Ballet I  (Ages 6-9)
PRE-REQUISITE:  6 yr. olds must have completed Pre-Ballet or with permission of instructor.

Classes emphasize the development of classical ballet skills with a focus on proper placement and alignment.  Students will learn ballet vocabulary through barre and center work while building strength and flexibility.
Dress Code:
Girls-solid color leotard and tights
Boys-solid color t-shirt and male tights or leggings
Footwear-ballet shoes only
MONDAY  6:00-7:00 pm

Ballet II  (Ages 10-14)

Class continues the development of classical ballet skills, emphasizing proper technique.  Students will expand their ballet vocabulary through barre and center work.  Students will also focus on performance and movement quality.
Required reading material:  Technical and Manual Dictionary of Classical Ballet  by Gail Grant
Dress Code:
Girls-solid color leotard and tights
Boys-solid color t-shirt and male tights or leggings
Footwear-ballet shoes only
MONDAY  7:00-8:00 pm

Jazz I (Ages 6-9) 
PRE-REQUISITE: 6 yr. olds must have taken Pre-Tap/Jazz or with permission of instructor.

Classes teach basic jazz dance technique.  Students will focus on rhythm and body awareness through floor and center work.  Students will gain strength and flexibility in a fun, high-energy environment.
Dress Code:
Girls-leotard and jazz pants/leggings, tights
Boys-leotard or solid color t-shirt and jazz pants/leggings
Footwear:  jazz (preferred) or ballet shoes
THURSDAY  3:30-4:15 pm

Jazz II  (Ages 10-14) 

Class continues the exploration of jazz dance technique while focusing on isolations, rhythms and style performed to popular music.  Students will also focus on terminology, movement quality and executing choreography.
Dress Code:
Girls-leotard and jazz pants/leggings, tights
Boys-leotard or solid color t-shirt and jazz pants/leggings
Footwear:  jazz (preferred) or ballet shoes
THURSDAY  5:15-6:15 pm

Adult Ballet Fitness  (High School -Adult)

Concentrating on barre and floor exercises, training will focus on increasing strength and flexibility.  A graceful way to get those legs and abs toned up in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.
Dress Code:  Ballet shoes preferred but not required
THURSDAY  7:00-8:00 pm
OR SATURDAY 10:00-11:00 am

Fees are to be paid in sessions only.  Non-payment of fees will result in no class participation and late fees (after 30 days) will be assessed.  Call the office for payment arrangements, if necessary.  There will be a formal dance recital in the spring for those students enrolled in classes no later than January, 2009.
